10 lbs of Ticky Tacky

“10 lbs of Ticky Tacky” is a second exploration into sculpture and the different ways that I can express the push and pull of identity and confining gender roles. The wax is present again and I am finding it a good symbol of what a human is.The concrete represents how hard and stuck we are in our views of gender roles and it pulls against the soft easily manipulated wax. The cubes are representative of the ideas as well as the microcosm of middle class suburbia that keeps the concrete gender roles alive. These cubes represent homes and ideas that are unmoving, fighting against the boxes of what we are and the roles we want to play.
